Maps for Advocacy: A set of Tactical Tech tools

Created by Tactical Tech in 2008 and updated in 2010, the booklet demystifies the step-by-step process of producing and sharing maps, using data sources like Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Socialight and others.

How can advocacy groups highlight complex issues such as human rights abuses, protest marches and vanishing forests? Thankfully there are techniques and tools available to powerfully represent these issues as maps.

Early on in our work at Tactical Tech we recognised the power of maps in projects such as the Darfur Project and mapping done by ALTSEAN-Burma, and produced our Maps for Advocacy booklet as an introduction to geographical mapping techniques.

The booklet demystifies the step-by-step process of producing and sharing maps, using data sources like Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Socialight and others.

You can download the English guide as a pdf here.
